DESCRIPTION
Caspase-1 activation and subsequent formation of IL-1βis the first step in the inflammatory response and apoptosis. There are a variety of health conditions which are based at least in part on this process, including rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and cardiovascular disease. AkrivisBio’s Caspase-1 Assay is a simple, sensitive and economical way to quantify proteolytic enzyme activity with a specificity for the peptide sequence YVAD. Such activity releases 7-amino-4-trifluoromethyl coumarin which is fluorescent (excitation 400 nm, emission 505 nm), making it easy to follow enzyme activity.
