Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) is an enzyme found in various tissues throughout the body, including the liver, bone, kidney, and intestine. It plays a crucial role in catalyzing the hydrolysis of phosphate groups from various molecules including nucleotides and proteins. ALP is essential for many physiological processes, including bone mineralization, nucleic acid metabolism, and cellular signaling. AkrivisBio’s Alkaline Phosphatase utilizes the BCIP/NBT protocol based on indoxyl substrates. In the stain, BCIP is hydrolyzed to an indoxyl, which reduces the NBT to a darkly colored formazan.
