DESCRIPTION

Destruxin A is a cyclic hexadepsipeptide metabolite from the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae. It is produced by certain species of entomopathogenic fungi, including Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana. Destruxin A exhibits insecticidal properties and is used in agricultural and biological control applications. Destruxin A acts as a biopesticide and exerts its insecticidal effects by targeting the immune system and disrupting cellular processes in insects. It interacts with the insect midgut epithelial cells, causing cell damage, disruption of cell membranes, and alteration of ion transport, leading to insect death. Destruxin A and other destruxin compounds have been the subject of ongoing research to explore their potential applications in pest control and agriculture.
