DESCRIPTION
Cytochrome P450 3A4 is the predominant isoform, accounting for ~30-50% of the total liver P450 activity. It is responsible for phase 1 metabolism of an extremely wide range of xenobiotics as well as many endogenous compounds. Inhibition of this isoform is responsible for many adverse drug reactions and drug/drug interactions. AkrivisBio’s CYP3A4 Assay is a simple, sensitive assay for enzyme activity using a substrate which is converted to 7-Hydroxy-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin with a dramatic increase in fluorescence at 338/420 nm. Specificity is provided by the addition of ketoconazole to the kit which is a CYP3A4 inhibitor.
