Tyrosine is one of the four aromatic amino acids. Hydrophobicity is one of the main characteristics of this uncharged polar amino acid. Beyond being an important constituent of protein, tyrosine is a precursor for several classes of biochemicals (neurotransmitters, thyroid hormones, melanin, fumarate, acetoacetate). Pathologies related to tyrosine are well known, including phenylketonuria, hypothyroidism, tyrosinemia, albinism, and alkaptonuria. AkrivisBio’s Tyrosine Assay is a simple, sensitive method for tyrosine quantitation with a sensitivity below 50 µM in variety of sample types. Sample preparation is simple without any complicated procedures.
