DESCRIPTION

Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide (FAD) is a coenzyme involved in numerous metabolic processes including the electron transport chain, the TCA cycle, DNA repair, nucleotide synthesis, beta oxidation of fatty acids, amino acid catabolism and synthesis of other cofactors such as CoA, CoQ and heme. As a redox cofactor, it can exist in 3 oxidation states, quinone, semiquinone and hydroquinone, allowing it to accept or donate electrons and move easily between the oxidation states. FAD is also involved in the function of cryptochromes, molecules which affect circadian rhythms. With so many areas of participation, measuring FAD levels can inform many areas of biochemistry. AkrivisBio’s FAD Assay is a simple, sensitive assay, applicable to different biological sample types with a sensitivity below 1 nM.
