Isocitrate dehydrogenase catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to α-ketoglutarate, producing NADH or NADPH with some isoforms and CO₂ as byproducts. This reaction is a key regulatory step in the TCA cycle, linking energy production with biosynthetic processes. NADH is used in the electron transport chain to produce energy, NADPH is used for maintaining redox balance through recharging GSH stocks and ketoglutarate is used in a variety of synthetic pathways. Mutations of IDH are implicated in several cancers.. AkrivisBio’s Isocitrate Dehydrogenase Activity Assay is a simple, sensitive way to measure IDH activity in a variety of samples with a sensitivity below 10 µUnits per well.
